Description koerber.matthias 2012-09-25 16:36:39 UTC
Problem: assigning shortcut with german mutated vowel like
"Quick Tile Windows to the Right" -> "Meta+Ä"
does not work. Not dependend on shortcut nor which m.v. (ü/ä/ö).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. assign global shortcut: "Quick Tile Windows to the Right" -> "Meta+Ä
2. try

Actual Results:
nothing

Expected Results:
quick tile :)

Reassigning to general component as I cannot find anything for global shortcuts. KWin is not (yet) responsible for those.

Interestingly *this* combos work with shift invocation (differen from tab / used to)

> Interestingly *this* combos work with shift invocation (differen from tab /
> used to)

I found the same behavior when trying to assign a shortcut to "Meta+ç" (ie, no action when executing the shortcut). However, It does work if I mix these keys with shift (ie, "Meta+shift+ç" works as expected).
Comment 4 Thomas Lübking 2015-10-10 22:54:37 UTC
One likely has to restart kglobalaccel after starting the session since the keyboard map change wasn't caught.
Comment 5 Thomas Lübking 2015-10-18 12:52:07 UTC
most likely somehow a dupe of or related to bug #350816, being https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-30911
Comment 6 Thomas Lübking 2015-10-25 11:24:14 UTC
experimental workaround, feel free to try https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/125786/
