Description Ciro Santilli 2012-09-13 16:12:07 UTC
Hi there,

I installed the ubuntu krusader package on Ubuntu 11.10 with apt-get.

When I tried to run krusader as a normal user (not sudo), I got the message:

"Krusader's configuration file is in READ ONLY mode (why is that?!) Changed values will not be saved."

And effectively, when I changed the configs they didn't save.

I checked the config files under ~/.kde/share/config/, and really they had permissions -rw------.

The same goes for config files that don't belong to krusader, so I'm guessing this could be a more general kde problem.

I tried to remove them, and reestart krusader, but they got recreated with the same permissions.

The only thing that did work was manually changing the permissions to give them write acces by the normal user.

This is similar to

http://forum.krusader.org/viewtopic.php?p=10177

except I started as a normal user the first time.

Is this intended behaviour? Is there a security problem is allowing a user to write things which are on his own home dir? Is this ubuntu only? Should I report this somewhere else?

Thanks

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install krusader on ubuntu from a package and apt-get
2. Run krusader as a normal user.
3. Try change configs, save them and reestart.
Actual Results:
Configs didn't save.

Expected Results:
Configs save
