When activate the desktop grid effect the screen flashes until I move the mouse (see the video at this link: http://www.virgolus.altervista.org/kwinProblemCompressed2.ogv). 
This problem doesn't exist on 4.8.x series. 4.9.0 and 4.9.1 are affected on my system.

cpu: intel sandy bridge i7
video card: integrated HD Graphics 3000
intel driver: 2.20.6
xorg version: 1.12.4

Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 pcie_aspm=force i915.semaphores=1 enable_mtrr_cleanup mtrr_spare_reg_nr=1 i915.i915_enable_fbc=1

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. activate desktop grid effects (both with screen corner or keyboard shortcut)

Desktop grid start but flashes

Expected Results:  
Desktop grid start without flashes

This should actually have gone with 4.9.1

Please provide the output of
    qdbus org.kde.kwin /KWin supportInformation

Also ensure that you really have 4.9.1 of KWin - distros were asked to hold back the kde-workspace package

Sorry, my mistake, arch upgrade failed because I have compiled kwin from source. Now with upgrade I have kde 4.9.1 and the problem is resolved.
