More or less this feature already exists - you can open the popup-panel of the other panel (and if you want, maximize it to the size of the panel), then click the 'View Panel' button of the popup-panel. Hi Jan, What I'm hoping for is something very like 'Quick view' in Midnight Commander - left pane is set to a normal file list view and the right pane is set to Quick view (Ctrl-x q). This works really well and is very fast becasue as you navigate through files on the left the view on the right is replaced with the current file. This avoids having to go back and close all the files that have been opened for viewing. PS: IIRC this feature has been there longer than 2.4.0-beta1. Maybe I didn't correctly understand what you mean. PS: From what I can see the only difference is that you cannot open the quickview panel with a single shortcut. But once it is open, is is updated as you can navigate through the files.
