tested image: basyskom-plasma-active-archos-gen9-omapfb-tablet-mer-testing-120805-1829.tar.bz2

after a fresh install:
* Open the activity switcher
* touch the + icon to add an activity

result:
The window does not respond to touches. It is unclosable. You need to reboot the device to close the window

don't automatically give focus

seems to badly clash with the on screen keyboard, some different solution will be found

For me (on plasma-active-wetab-exopc-tablet-mer-devel-120805-1940.iso) the described problem does not appear.
What does happen, however, is that first Maliit pops up, than everything seems frozen for a few seconds, and then the dialog appears, which then works normally.

The screen goes black and freezes.

Unable to reproduce blackscreen, but edit/creation activity and add resources window get not focus
and stuck. No keyboard pops up and only the top bar with peak area is responsive.

I am able to reproduce the black screen problem in VirtualBox when using kwin's OpenGL backend. It does not happen when I use XRender backend.

That bug still occurs in basyskom-plasma-active-archos-gen9-pvr-tablet-mer-devel-120824. No black screen but the focus remain on the add widget dialog. If you launch an application, it launches itself, you can see it in the "task ribbon" but you cannot get focus on it.

On Wetab (basyskom-plasma-active-wetab-exopc-tablet-mer-testing-120913-1410.iso) the dialog works fine.

The fixed pushed in basyskom-plasma-active-archos-gen9-omapfb-tablet-mer-testing-release-rc3 works now on Archos G9. No more bug.
