When and what did you update, so that it no longer works?
If you can provide the information requested in comment #2, please add it. hello! i appologize for late reply - it seems when you posted your comment i didnt get notification on my email - now when u again posted i did. It happened like this: i finally messed up my karmic koala -> upgraded to lucid lynx -> upgraded to maverick meerkat -> upgraded to natty narhwal -> upgraded to oneiric ocelot -> upgraded to precise pangolin kubuntu, so i did fresh install - format partition - of quantal 12.10 alpha3 (it wasnt exactly "upgrade" it was a fresh install...sorry for misinformation..) .... and thats when it didnt work anymore. I have to admit when i first installed fglrx on koala it wasnt problem installling it and afterwards also it wasnt problem when it was updated. but here now the problem came with installation of fglrx so i have to use only xorg drivers which i mentioned above. they work fine otherwise, i mean they work better than fglrx ---- they dotn kick me to terminal after reboot for example --- except for that resolution problem... tv+monitor... 1400x1050... thank you for your answer! i appologize for my long post - and also i know about video (and audio) problems there is an extensive documentation available on internet - but i dont want workaround i think its some kind of bug, because one resolution works, the other doesnt.... if both didint work i would think maybe its something with installation or something with my graphics card, etc.. nice day! symon :) hello! just saw by chance - for this bug i found a logical soultuin - of course it wont display 1400x1050 on my 16:9 TV which is HD - its illogical to display a 4:3 screen now i have 1400x1050 for my monitor and 1920x1080 for my TV and it works like it should the fact that previously i could use 1400x1050 on both screens was actually not the right configuration from the beggining. i hope its ok if i flag this as "works for me" if not, please change it to what it is more suitable nice day :) Simon one other thing: if someone believes that 1400x1050 should still work on both 4:3 and 16:9 screens i still can say that it DDOESNT work and in this case this still should be a bug. also i remembered sth else: the 1400x1050 worked on both screens ONLY with fglrx installed nwo for long time im not using fglrx anymore (it never made things better only worse) and also coz im using the new stuff so my linux-generic- ... version is always newer than fglrx version ...anyway xedgers xorg drivers are workign flawless...for my current needs... thank you! Simon:) |
