I partly agree. I also expect to see the information for the current folder as soon as I *click* into some blank space in the folder. This should work, no matter if I selected a file before or if "I" just hovered over the file. It's a matter of consistency. Clicking on an item should always make that item the active one. And that does not work by now concerning the current folder after hovering over something in the folder. But I presume that showing the information for the current folder after just leaving a hovered item in this folder is counterproductive. Why? There is a play preview for sound files in the information sidebar. It can autoplay the hovered sound file or you can choose to manually hit the play button in the sidebar. I prefer the latter (doesn't lead to accidental cacophonies) and that can only work if the just left file still is seen as active (though not selected) while I travel with the mouse away from the file to hit the play button in the sidebar. Thanks for the report! I never noticed this, but I agree that it feels a bit strange to see that the effect that clicking an empty part of the view has on the Information Panel depends on whether files were selected before or not.
