This is not a folderview bug, but rather a bug in the exif layer, so either in libkexif2 or in the exif2 library itself. Reassigning to the digikam guys, they should know better. Thank you for reporting.

No problem with libkexiv2. Please ensure you've got not an ancient version of libkexiv2/exiv2.
Then, whichever application this bug came from, please take it back...

Yes, this bug is still valid.

Tested with Fedora 19 (KDE 4.11 / digiKam 3.5.0)

Screenshot attached.

The last screenshot from F19 do not come from digiKam but KDE folder view. this implementation must certainly take date from Exif. But a lots of Exif tags exist with date, and some are set to zero by camera.

I suspect that folder view do not take the right Exif date tag or something like that.

Just to be sure can you attach the relevant JPEG file here ? Thanks in advance

This bug was opened to folderview component and redirected to libkexiv2 (Comment 2)

I used the JPEG image already attached https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=72615 to take last screenshot.

No problem to show photo date in digiKam 4.0.0-beta2

There is no problem to import your sample photo to digiKam. Date is properly detected and show everywhere.

So the problem is not in libkexiv2, but in Plasma FolderView implementation...

In comment #2 it was already stated this is no folder view bug.

Ignat, could this be a KIO bug not correctly getting file information?
Comment 13 André Marcelo Alvarenga 2016-09-26 11:51:07 UTC
Hi.

I'm closing this bug report since I can see date information in tooltip widget (Dolphin).
Date information in Folder View is not displayed anymore. (Plasma 5.7)
