I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T510.  Before, I was using Linux Mint 10 KDE, and everything worked great after I disabled the touchpad.  Now, I've upgraded to Linux Mint 12 KDE (which doesn't appear on your list at all for some odd reason), and this thing is nearly unusable.  When I use the pointing stick, I'm fighting against the stupid touchpad because my palm is resting on the touchpad, giving conflicting input.  When I type, the mouse cursor is moving all around because again, my palm touches the touchpad.  What kind of stupid design is this?

1) There's supposed to be something to lock out touchpads when typing.  This isn't present in KDE for some reason.

2) There's no way to disable the touchpad any more.  This used to be present; I don't recall exactly how, but I had no trouble disabling it in Mint 10, but in Mint 12 it's gone.  Why are you trying to force people to use touchpads?  I don't need a touchpad, I have a pointing stick.  Why can't we have a simply "disable touchpad" selection in the Input Devices section of the Control Center?



Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.  Get a laptop with a touchpad
2.  Try to disable it.
3.  Or, try typing with your palm touching the touchpad.
Actual Results:  
Pointer moving around when it shouldn't be.

Expected Results:  
When typing, pointer should not move unless pointing stick is touched.
Touchpad should be able to be disabled with simple check-box.
