*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 288115 *** This is not a duplicate of bug 288115 as far as I am concerned. That other bug was for Ubuntu's KDE 4.7.2 and deals with viewing thrashed files. In my case, gwenview crashes (or rather, freezes) when opening an _existing_ file. I have compiled and run every version of KDE since 4.1 and this bug has never occurred until KDE 4.8.4 on Slackware. The last lines of strace in this case are: stat("/tmp/ksocket-eha/", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0700, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 socket(PF_FILE, SOCK_STREAM|SOCK_CLOEXEC, 0) = 13 fcntl(13, F_GETFL) = 0x2 (flags O_RDWR) fcntl(13, F_SETFL, O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) = 0 connect(13, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path="/tmp/ksocket-eha/nepomuk-socket"}, 110) = 0 getsockname(13, {sa_family=AF_FILE, NULL}, [2]) = 0 getpeername(13, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path=@""}, [34]) = 0 getsockopt(13, SOL_SOCKET, SO_TYPE, [1], [4]) = 0 fcntl(13, F_GETFL) = 0x802 (flags O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) fcntl(13, F_SETFL, O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) = 0 futex(0xd1f5a0, FUTEX_WAIT, 2, NULL This crash behaviour did _not_ occur until 4.8.4 ! I think that my bug is valid and unrelated to bug 288115. I object to it being closed. There is an identical report on the kde-packagers mailing list for gwenview crashes in KDE 4.8.4. That crash log is located here: http://paste.chakra-project.org/1910/ Eric We get the same crashes in arch too after 4.8.4 update. See BUG#301453 So it does in Chakra Linux. See Bug 301468 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301468 I can fix this crash bug by upgrading soprano to the latest version 2.7.56. Gwenview no longer crashes on startup. Also, when clicking a picture in dolphin, this launches gwenview which now displays the picture properly. However, this version of soprano should not have been a requirement for any KDE SC prior to 4.9.x. How did this dependency creep into KDE SC 4.8.4? Due to code added to kdelibs? Sorry for my English. When i open gwenview it is crash. when i open in dolphin it open images for a few time. Now it completly(definitly) doesn't work!

Crashes when opening whole folder. Opens correctly when specifying one image. Also you can switch to browse mode, after started. But crashes always when trying to open folder content.

*** Bug 301906 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I am experiencing a crash when I try to launch gwenview after upgrading to KDE 4.8.4 as well. There's a difference, though. It doesn't crash when I open an image from dolphin with it or when I put an image as the argument when launching it from the command line. It also doesn't happen on a fresh user.
