I installed KDE from ubuntu 12.04 64Bit Desktop with apt-get install kde-full. After first time logging in the program crashed

what's your graphics-card and used driver? To figure out install mesa-utils and run glxinfo

It's more important to know the GL renderer string, so please
-> attach an output of "glxinfo > glx.info" and/or the output of "kwin --replace &"

The crash happens in the driver which is at least not capable of GLSL, so if you want desktop effects in "kcmshell4 kwincompositing", 3rd tab disable GLSL

If it still crashes, use the XRender backend (OpenGL simply won't work in that VM then - most VMs have "suboptimal" OpenGL implementations...)
