I have dozens of folders with emails going back several years. I prefer to have the folders and emails organized using the Message List -> Aggregation -> Current Activity Flat. When using this view, and others I have tried as well, all the emails of age beyond the current year are displayed as Month Year (January 2008, February 2008).
It would be nice if years before the current would collapse as well so I would not only have folders of months, but a folder containing all of 2006, a folder containing all of 2007 and so on. When expanding that folder it would show the months within the year and so on...
