Description cvollet 2012-05-14 08:13:19 UTC
I never, or really seldom, use Gwenview. (I mostly browse images on the interweb). I opened an image today, which was very small, and wanted to zoom on it.

I was expecting something like what Okular provides, zoom+ and zoom- buttons in the toolbar, so it took me a while (>10 seconds) to find out where was the zoom. It seems to me that it is a really basic feature for an app like Gwenview to deserve a place on the toolbar.

I know it seems like a detail, but it is imho important.

-- Motivation
I really think user interface is what is lacking the most in kde software. I've read the blogs entries by Aurelien, and each time I find myself learning something and agreeing with him. That's why when I saw something like that in Gwenview, I thought it was worth a try to report it (I don't say this has to be changed, but it is definitely something to consider - as always immostho).

Thanks to the devs. I wish I could dedicate myself like that.

Clément.

Reproducible: Always

There is a zoom slider in the bottom right corner with percentage values, as well as zoom preset buttons right next to it.

It wouldn't be too hard to add Zoom in and Zoom out shortcuts to the toolbar, though. I might whip up a patch for this.

And actually, as of Gwenview 17.11.70, the zoom slider itself has little zoom buttons on either side of it. I don't think we need toolbar buttons; this is now much more discoverable than it was in 2012 when you reported the issue.
