1. Kubuntu 12.04 fails to turn off the computer system after the "Shutdown/Turn Off Computer" button is clicked.

2. The computer system appears appears to remain stuck in the same state that existed before the mouse was clicked on the "Shutdown/Turn Off Computer" button.

3. In some cases, it appears that the system is not entirely stuck. Other operations can be done even after the mouse was clicked on the "Shutdown/Turn Off Computer" button.

4. In both cases, the computer system does not shut down.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on the "Leave" button.
2. Then click on the "Shutdown/Turn Off Computer" button.
Actual Results:  
1. The computer system does not shut down.

2. The computer system appears to remain stuck in the same state that existed before the mouse was clicked on the "Shutdown/Turn Off Computer" button.

3. In some cases, it appears that the system is not entirely stuck. Other operations can be done even after the mouse was clicked on the "Shutdown/Turn Off Computer" button.

Expected Results:  
1. The computer system must shut down completely.

Which KDE SC version do you have installed? It may be related to this problem if you version is below 4.8.1: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228005
