Description Andrius 2012-05-05 23:47:10 UTC
When using KDE open file dialog (not native dialog), either I get a crash or a "The process for the <ftp url> protocol died unexpectedly." message (and sometimes both things happen), when trying to access a FTP location.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open KNetAttach and set up a remote FTP location ( In my case I'm using the details provided in http://www.secureftp-test.com/ )
2. Open dolphin, choose "Remote" in the places panel and open the newly created remote location - no problem in dolphin.
3. Open kate, click "Open File", choose "Remote" in the places panel and open the newly created remote location - either get a crash or a "The process for the ftp://ftp.secureftp-test.com protocol died unexpectedly." message.
Actual Results:
Random behavior:
* Crash
* The process for the ftp://ftp.secureftp-test.com protocol died unexpectedly.

Expected Results:
Getting the Contents listed just like in dolphin

Using KDE File Dialog.
Happens also when putting the URL directly
Seems strange that the entire URL is shown in the error message ... when other protocol dies it only shows the name of the protocol (e.g.: "file", "remote")
Using MSVC 2010 build

Same when using MinGW binaries from kde-installer.
Comment 2 Nate Graham 2018-04-16 17:40:14 UTC
Is this still an issue with KDE Frameworks 5.44 or greater?
