Description Martin Stolpe 2012-04-09 17:42:56 UTC
Hello,

when I type in names in the "To" field "New Message" dialog the autocompletions for names doesn't work for me.

Here are the steps I took to setup kmail/kaddressbok:

In kaddressbook:
- "File" -> "New" -> "Add Address Book..." -> "Personal Contacts" -> OK
- set the location of the address book to "/home/martin/.local/share/contacts/"
- added some contacts

In kmail:
- In "Settings" -> "Configure KMail..." -> "Composer" -> "Configure Completions Order..." I made sure that my address book is listed

In "System Settings" -> "Personal Information" -> "Akonadi Resources Configuration" I see a green light for my personal contacts.

Best regards
Martin

I think this bug is a duplicate of 262960.

I encounter the same problem, using Ubuntu (Unity Desktop) with KMail 4.8.4

Same problem here. Autocompletion only suggests the names from the "Recently used addresses". It doesn't suggest anything based on the address book. (But the Tools>Select recipients" list shows the Contact names from the address book.)

I have updated to 4.9.0 and it seems that this release has a fix for this feature included. At least this feature is working for me now.

Can anybody confirm?

I also updated to KDE 4.9.0 (kubuntu packages). I use two CardDAV address book, and one google ressource.

Address completion is now quite random for me. Some names ("Daniel Greb", "Ahmet Inan") are always completed properly after entering a few letter. Some other names from the same addressbook ("Thomas Peternell") are never found, no matter how many letters I type.

No, completion from the address book does not work for me on KDE 4.9.1 (openSUSE).
