I use KDE 4.8, and I have checked this bug for duplicates I also use Pithos, and would really like to be able to use my Play/Pause/Skip keys in KDE. Created attachment 69875 [details] My dbus tree I use two main applications for multimedia or music listening in KDE. One is pithos, and the other is gmusicbrowser. None of my multimedia keys painted on my keyboard work with these applications ( or any other applications other then amarok). They did not even work with juk. I have found that many gtk apps use gnome-settings-daemon which cannot be run in kde. They also register themselves with dbus. My wish is that KDE would "play nice" with applications that request gnome-settings-daemon, and forward this request on to the appropriate library or service in KDE, but if that is not possible I wish that KDE would use dbus to issue commands to these applications. An example of a good shortcut is fn+f12 to skip a song.
