When I start up a docked Thinkpad T500 (VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV635 [Mobility Radeon HD 3650]) with lid closed the external monitor (DVI-0) gets the resolution of the LVDS and systemsettings shows both displys in use.

When I set the DVI-0 to correct resolution (automatic marked line) and LVDS not in use and hit apply sometimes the screen gets blurred and sometimes is ok. Blurred screen can be fixed by switching to virtual console and back. There may be something different in my mouse-keyboard sequence when getting different outcome, but I'm not sure. Next time the X starts I need to do this all again.

If I save the settings as default, I'm unable to use the laptop undocked at all: The display is in DVI-0 even though the laptop has no DVI port at all, it's only in docking station. Onlu displayport and vga are physically present in the laptop itself.

I'm not sure whether this is a KDE or Xorg or someothersw problem, please forward if the problem is not in systemsettings.

Systemsettings version: Debian testing: 4:4.7.4-2

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure display settings with KDE systemsettings
2. (Re)Start X with lid closed, external display with better resolution than the LDVS panel connected to DVI-0
3. Previous settings lost, goto 1.
Actual Results:
Please see the details

Expected Results:
The external display should use it's natural resolution and the LVDS should be not in use when started up docked with closed lid and, unless some other default settings have been manually saved.

When display resolution is changed, the display shouldn't need resetting by switching to virtual console and back.

Thanks for reporting your bug.

Since reporting Krandr has since been replaced by KScreen. It is available in the Plasma 4 series, and is default in Plasma 5 onwards.

I hope this solves your issue. If you still have a problem after upgrading please reopen a new bug under kscreen.

Thanks
