Rendering difference between Qt and GTK

There's a difference in the way fonts are rendered between QT and GTK apps on the same desktop environment. I'm using KDE 4.8.1 on openSUSE 12.1 w/ subpixel rendering applied to freetype, fontconfig and a compiled cairo for it..along with Ubuntu font size 9. The difference is quite glaring in the attached screenshot. I've seen this problem in Chakra as well, so it seems like a distro-agnostic issue.

Please report this to either the Qt or the GTK bug tracker, depending on what you think does wrong.
