Do not know if this is related... I had kmail immediately crashing after start after update to 4.8.1 as well. What helped to me was removing ~/.kde/share/config/kmail2rc. This is not nice since I lost a lot of settings with that, but after that I got a kmail that works at least. Although there are occational crashes as they have been reported elsewhere (see e.g. http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-pim&m=133138130411584&w=2). *** Bug 295638 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Do you still have that kmail2rc in order to compare it with the new one and find the part that causes the crash? I also have the problem of crashing kontact/kmail after the update to 4.8.1. Disabling Nepomuk seems to "fix" it for me. removing kmail2rx did not help for me, but disabling nepomuk did. Strangely enough I enabled it afterwards again, but the crash did not return. Kmail is running now for a couple of hours with nepomuk fully activated without a crash. As far as I know nothing else changed and I don't think the the relevant packages in therepository wre updated. I disabled nepomuk but still have the same issue. When I start to typing a new mail kmail crashes. gallochri *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 295474 *** |
Created attachment 69422 [details] backtrace from kontact, after switching to kmail Updated to 4.8.1 from 4.7.2 on opensuse using KDE:Release:48 repo. Kmail crashes shortly after opening (both outside and inside Kontact). I am using pop3 accounts. The crash happens pretty soon after startup, but I think changing folder under the inbox triggers it (not sure though). Have two backtraces, hope they will help (add one of them, if necessary I have another).
