Description T Kleindienst 2012-03-09 12:03:16 UTC
With Kmail2 on KDE 4.8.1 (opensuse rpms) I can't get the folder content of the IMAP Inbox folder (local Cyrus IMAP server) anymore. Only the content (=messagelist) of subfolders is displayed.
Refreshing the folder / Updatign the view is not helping.

Checking with Claws reveals, that all the items are still there, Kmail2 still refuses to display the messagelist of the root folder (with Cyrus usually "Inbox")

Also it is not possible to move/copy mails into the Inbox folder.

btw.: With Kmail2 on 4.8.0 it was working before.

regards,
  Thomas

Update 4.8.2

now this happens when the account is generated with the account wizard
(no INBOX with Cyrus)

if the account is added later on the IMAP Inbox is shown.

I'm seeing the same on my wife's machine. OpenSUSE 12.1, package kmail-4.7.2-3.5.2.x86_64
(same for akonadi).
Can't get the inbox contents to show up. Everything else works fine.
Server is (KDAB's) Kolab.
Can't remember how the account was created for sure, but 90% chances are it was created in kmail's configure dialog, not with a wizard.

Kevin, any suggestions for debugging this? Or is it fixed since?

Deleting and recreating the account (in "configure kmail") fixed it.

Not showing inbox content can be because of two issues:
- not subscribed to inbox (can happen in some cases)
- the ACL is wrong for inbox (either on the server, or wrongly set in akonadi)

What was the problem in the above mentioned cases I can't say, but this is how to debug:
- check subscription
- check ACL and attributes for the folder in akonadiconsole
- check if server supports ACL or not (KDAB's does)
- check if the server side ACL is the same as what you see in akonadiconsole

http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/PIM/Akonadi/Debug_IMAP is helpful to debug it.

This happens because of enabled server side subscription. It's enabled by default in the wizzard, disabled by default in manual configuration.

The IMAP resource has a new maintainer, reassigning to him.

Please reopen if you can reproduce this problem with kdepim >= 4.11.3 although the inbox is subscribed to
