Is this still valid with KDE 4.8.3? Please always test bugs you report for unstable versions once the stable version is released. Yes, this is still valid in KDE 4.8.3 on Kubuntu 12.04 Its currently shipped this way with Kubuntu 12.04, an LTS version, where you cannot lock your session. Not so good in terms of security. In my opinion one of the following should be done: 1) bring back krunner to Netbook until Netbook its rewritten in QML 2) Deactivate Netbook in vanilla configuration until rewritten in QML (or provide information about the limitation) 3) Rewrite Netbook in QML soon reopen according to comment #2 I'm ruunning KDE 4.8.5 under Kubuntu 12.04 & have the same problems. If I start in Unity, keyboard shortcuts work, i.e. - Alt F2 -> Commmand Line input - Ctrl Alt T => Terminal - "Windows" key => Program search field - Ctrl Alt L => Lock Session However, booting into Plasma Netbook, the following do NOT work: - Alt F2 => Krunner input - Ctrl Alt T => Terminal - Ctrl Esc => System Monitor - Ctrl Alt L => Lock Session Also - Lock Icon on top panel does not work - from Search & Launch desktop, right click context menu item "lock screen" does not work. HOWEVER, if I select "Run Command" (context menu on search and launch desktop) the dialogue box opens (i.e equivalent to what Alt F2 should do). If "Ctrl Alt T", "Ctrl Esc", or "Ctrl Alt L" are entered, the relevant action is performed. After this initial action (activating "Run Command" from the context menu to run any of these commands the first time), any further attempts to run "Ctrl Alt T", "Ctrl Esc", or "Ctrl Alt L" during this log on session, work directly as per design intent, as does the lock button on top panel. After reboot (Plasma Netbook) shortcuts no longer work. It's as if a couple of daemons need to be kick started (the first by kicking the "run Command" dialogue, the second, by running the relevant keyboard shortcut through the Run Command dialogue) to get the normal keyboard shortcuts running under Plasma Netbook. WOW! Your workaround works!! "" HOWEVER, if I select "Run Command" (context menu on search and launch desktop) the dialogue box opens (i.e equivalent to what Alt F2 should do). If "Ctrl Alt T", "Ctrl Esc", or "Ctrl Alt L" are entered, the relevant action is performed. "" What a nice find. But how to do this automated on startup? KRunner is not running. |
