Description Jonathan M Davis 2012-02-26 01:53:05 UTC
Version:           unspecified (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS:                Linux

As of KDE 4.8, whenever I start KDE, pretty much every single open application is blinking on the taskbar (sometimes a few aren't but most of them are, and frequently all of them are). Almost none of them have a dialog that I need to respond to. They just opened normally. And yet, they're blinking, indicating that they're doing something that I need to respond to. And, of course, not only is the blinking annoying, but it means that all of the applications show up on the taskbar on all desktops (which is normal and expected for a blinking application). So, to get the applications to stop blinking and to make it so that they only show up on the destkops that they're on, I have to go and click on every single open application. This is _annoying_ and makes starting KDE incredibly tedious.

It should work like it did before and only have the ones that need user interaction be blinking (e.g. because they popped up a dialog).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Have KDE set up so that it restores you applications when you log in. Have a bunch of applications open. Exit KDE. Log in again.

Actual Results:
Nearly every open application is then blinking on the taskbar.

Expected Results:
Only applications that require the user to do something (e.g. they popped up a dialog) should be blinking.

I don't know if it matters or not, but here is what appears to be the settings for my task bar in plasma-desktop-appletsrc:

[Containments][3][Applets][10][Configuration]
Share=false
forceRows=false
groupWhenFull=false
groupingStrategy=0
highlightWindows=false
maxRows=3
showOnlyCurrentActivity=true
showOnlyCurrentDesktop=true
showOnlyCurrentScreen=true
showOnlyMinimized=false
showTooltip=false
sortingStrategy=2

Also, I have two task bars, because I have a dual monitor setup. Both taskbars have the problem, but I doubt that dual monitors have anything to do with it, since presumably, each taskbar is just another instance of the taskbar plasmoid which doesn't care about any others.

Regardless, I haven't changed my taskbar settings since well before 4.8, and I've had this problem ever since I upgraded to 4.8.
