Hi again, err, I'm sorry there is something wrong in initial report. I thought 4.8 was already in the pipes for Kubuntu, in fact it was still 4.7.4. So my upgrade was from 4.7.x to 4.7.4. Version: 0.2 (using KDE 4.7.4) OS: Linux Hi, it not the first time the problem occured. With new release of KDE 4.8, I launched today the Muon package manager, clicked on "check for updates" to ensure sources were the latest, then clicked on "full upgrade". Download fasts, the ~330 Mo of updates, begin installation of new packages... I check CPU use by curiosity, all cores around 50%. When I look again 10mn later, it's stuck at 59%. I double-checked it was frozen and not in middle of something by: - waiting 3mn just watching, to be sure it didn't progress; - closing all other applications, then watching CPU use, which stays as low as 10%. It cannot be a matter of resources (Phenom 2 X6, 8Go RAM, SSD Crucial m4), and muon RAM consumption was under 500 Mo anyways. Besides, same problem happened on other computers, when I wanted to upgrade from 4.5 to 4.6, 4.6 to 4.7, either on Kubuntu 11.04 or 11.10. Bug is not showbreaker for an initiate (stay calm, run terminal, sudo dpkg --reconfigure -a), but can be very disturbing for new users ("Why can't I install any new software?").
