Description Milko Krachounov 2012-01-30 18:17:53 UTC
Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.4)
OS: Linux

(When using KDE and KDM.)

When you try to shutdown the system, there's a variable number of confirmation screens depending on the number of things you need to confirm. For example, if there are other users logged in to the system, you're warned about it in a separate dialog box. What's more, that dialog doesn't appear immediately, but you have to wait for a while.

I realize this might be difficult to fix, because the two confirmation screens are probably displayed by completely different components, but a decent shutdown interface would display any issues with the shutdown on the original one. It's quite frustrating to go to shutdown the PC only to find it still running on the next day, or to take your laptop out of the bag and find it on and extremely hot or with an empty battery.

In effect, the normal KDE shutdown procedure is way more complicated than using a terminal, sudo/su and halt/shutdown!

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1. login with ssh and screen
2. shutdown
3. ???
4. lose all your money

Actual Results:
smurfs

Expected Results:
ponies
