Being able to see and change the star rating during the slide show (under advanced would be fine) would be of great benefit.

I was thinking about allowing say the numbers 1 throught 5, to be able to be pressed during the show?

Already implemented in digiKam slideshow (not advanced).

Go to digiKam slideshow setup, and switch on labels info (color, pick, rate)

During slideshow, you can change labels to images.
