Bug 291827

Summary: Use unassuming filename as default, perhaps with date and time, not last used (embarassing)

Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

This is the best screenshot program I have ever used.

I was alarmed to see the name of the last screen capture saved by ksnapshot.

I suppose somebody might want to do that sometime, but in general, I am taking a different snapshot every time, and I think most users would agree.

So, instead of just saying untitled(1..2..3) I propose using a datestamp and or some other unique, yet unassuming name.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
make and save few screenshots by pressing print screen

Actual Results:
notice that my last filename is in the file field.

Expected Results:
some sort of generic name in the file field

I think it is wierd that it even saves my recent files list...

dupe of 298152?

Using date and time as default name seems reasonable to me and I also would prefer it. Using some filename and increasing number could be an option instead.

Completely agree with Peter Paulsen.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years and I will be closing this bug. Spectacle is the replacement for ksnapshot now. Please test again and file a new bug for Spectacle if you still have issues. Thank you!
