Description Omid 2012-01-14 20:12:19 UTC
Version: 1.2.0 (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS: Linux

Every time any of the dialog boxs corresponding to the menu items under Image/Metadata is opened and closed, even if no change has been made to the Metadata of the selected pictures, digiKam seems to be writing to disk, a process that is very time consuming if the number of selected pictures is large.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Select a few pictures. Go to Image/Metadata/Edit EXIF or Edit IPTC or Edit XMP. Close the window without making any changes. Notice that the pictures are being updated although no change was made.

Actual Results:
Metadata seems to be re-written to disk.

Expected Results:
No writing should be done when no change is made.

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-37-generic
Compiler: cc

Omid,

Please update to 2.5.0 and try again. 1.2.0 is pretty old now...
