Akonadi Server Self-Test Report

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS: Linux

* Description of the problem:
No mails are found in Kmail.

* Introduction:
In Kmail 1, I had my mails and addressbook in an ext4 directory that was not available when I started my computer.

Whenever I needed to read the mail, I "mounted" that ext4 directory, launched Kmail and everything worked. Some hours later, I could close Kmail and "unmount" the ext4 directory and work without Kmail or I could switch off the computer, etc. Without problems.

In Kmail 2, no mail messages are seen when I start Kmail.

I've looked in all the Akonadi-Nepomuk-Kmail FAQs and Google, but found no
answer

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
* Steps to reproduce the problem:
    - I start the PC.
    - I manually "mount" the ext4 directory that contains the "local-mail".
    - I start Kmail but no messages are seen in its folders (like "inbox").
    - I click with the secondary button of the mouse in the Kmail "Local folders" folder, and I choose "Refresh folder and subfolders", after a while of "updating" I can see all the email messages.
    - I close Kmail, I execute
pgrep kmail && kdialog --error "Kmail in memory" || akonadictl stop
    - I manually "unmount" the ext4 directory that contains the "local-mail".
    - I reboot the computer... and the situation is the same. No mails are found in Kmail.

Actual Results:
No mails are found in Kmail.

Possibly Akonadi doesn't find the mails when the computer is started and so
the mails are not "cached" and so Kmail doesn't display them?

Expected Results:
See the mails that are in Kmail without having to "update and wait" every, every time.

Maybe Akonadi should know about directories that are not present from the start, but they will be later ;-?

The versions of the programs are:

    Kmail version:
        kmail --version
            Qt: 4.7.4
            KDE development platform: 4.7.3 (4.7.3)
            KMail: 4.7.3

    Akonadi version
        akonadictl --version
            Akonadi 1.6.2

    Nepomuk version
        nepomukcontroller --version
            Qt: 4.7.4
            KDE development platform: 4.7.3 (4.7.3)
            Controlador de Nepomuk: 1.0

This bug has only been reported for versions older than KDEPIM 4.14 (at most akonadi-1.3). Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a recent version of akonadi (part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
