After booting the machine into runlevel 5 X starts fine KDM starts too. However the keybord is not working. The mouse is fine though.

After I restarted the X server in the "Menu" of KDM everything is fine.

you're missing a "vt7" at the end of the server line in 
$KDEDIR/share/config/kdm/Xservers.
