http://martys.typepad.com/blog/2011/12/kde-telepathy-now-depends-on-telepathy-qt4-09-also-how-to-report-bugs.html I followed these steps

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

I added my yahoo account to telepathy. When I try to connect, first it asks my password, (save password option is inactive/un-clickable) I enter it. A notification appears on the right bottom corner of screen, and it says: "Could not connect kokenkilic@yahoo.com. Authentication failed (is your password correct?)"

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Launch telepathy from applications
From the contact list screen, either click on the dropdown box where it says Offline and pick Available, or pick Available through the yahoo messenger button underneath the former one.
Enter password when it asks.

Actual Results:
Could not connect kokenkilic@yahoo.com. Authentication failed (is your password correct?)
This notification appears right bottom corner of the screen.
On the contact list screen, it still says Offline, but there's a round thing turns clockwise as if there's a process going on.
And it doesn't connect.
My password is correct.

Expected Results:
Should connect to yahoo.

none

In your user ID do you have "@yahoo.com" in your username? If not delete that part.

Not sure if my comment fixed it, it has for a lot of other people. Please re-open if you still have this issue.

For future reference, the @yahoo.X part is automatically removed for some time now [1]. If that indeed is the case, we should look for bugs there.
