Media Info after bad burning of the DVD+R DL

Version: 2.0.2 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

I was burning the opensuse 12.1 dvd image to a DVD+R DL disk using k3b. At the end of the burning, k3b gave explicit message, "written successfully", but it could not finish up verification. It threw up error about not able to read track1.

Then I closed k3b and re-inserted the disk, hoping for Opensuse 12.1 to appear in device tracker. No success. On the console, dmesg spit out something like 'I cannot identify the track on the disk'.

When I rechecked with k3b, the media info showed two tracks, but a volume size of zero. Surprisingly, the second track ends in block (sector) 0 which I think is the reason for volume size to be 0. First session starts from 0 and ends at some positive value, the second session ends at 0 track. So, the volume effectively becomes zero.

I am surprised at the second session when what I have burnt is an iso image which should have given only one session of one track. This is the official image of Opensuse 12.1 DVD and I have checked the md5sum. The image is alright.I tried burning with Brasero next time, it burnt alright.

I seeing this pattern in k3b all the time. I have been using k3b for the last 7 years. There will be approx. one bad CD produced out of three attempted in k3b. I am shifting to Brasero disenchanted with k3b.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
As above

Actual Results:
Disc with zero volume, bu k3b identifies as complete data

Expected Results:
A readable DVD containing Opensuse 12.1

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.37.6-0.9-desktop
Compiler: gcc
