- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I changed background phonon and attempted to play a online stream and when no audio came through I quit Amarok. In the shut down process Amarok crashed.

The crash is not in Amarok, but in the phonon-backend-gstreamer.

FWIW: when you change the Phonon backend you always have to restart the application before playing, as the previous codecs are still in use.
