I fear I do not understand your description. Is this maybe the same as the problem in bug #277167 ? If not, please tell me: What colors did you select as foreground, which one as background in the dual-color tool in the color toolbox ? What color is your background filled with ? From the description, I would say no (this has nothing to do with pasting or writing text). From WiseLord's screencast (comment 4), I would say YES! In WiseLord's screencast, at time of 1 minute, he starts dragging transparent selections around. Notice how selections turn white immediately when starting the drag, so the content is not preserved. That's what I'm talking about!
