Description jmaldrich 2011-11-24 20:11:01 UTC
Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS: Linux

I have been having problems with my filters not implementing correctly and have been having to close KMail when it hangs while trying to process messages. I believe I have discovered the cause of the problem that is causing KMail to hang, but in the process, I discovered that closing KMail while it is working on filtering causes most, if not all of the filters to disappear. Fortunately for me I have gotten in the habit of backing up my filters. Please fix it so that the filters are not lost if KMail closes while filters are in-use.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Create several filters, start to filter email and then close KMail while in the process of filtering.

Actual Results:
About 80-90% of the time, the majority if not all the filters will be gone and you have to re-import them when you restart KMail.

Expected Results:
Filters should NOT disappear and should be there when you reopen KMail

I've learned that having multiple email clients open at the same time, accessing the same set of folders is not a good idea. That appears to be what was causing the filters to apparently not apply properly.

Hej,

we have reworked the complete filter stack for KDE 4.8.
Can you test this with the current version, please?

Ciao,
Tobias

Hej,

using KMail 4.8.0 for about 2 weeks now, it looks like that all my problems with filters seems to be gone. For me, KMail is really going to be useable now. Thanks a lot!
