I was directed to the site 

https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/

Which has an invalid security certificate, reKonq displayed a warning message. Then crashed. After restarting reKonq and returning to the page that caused the problem reKonq now shows that I am connected to the page over an ssl connection but that the certificate is invalid. This is worrisome because it means that rekonq must have accepted an exception be added  for the certificate during the crash. I never consented to that exception, I was at the time attempting to view the certificate. Beyond this, rekonq appears to have no problem connecting to ssl pages which do not have certificate problems.

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.
