nothing i did helped (removing single files from $HOME to removing all files

and now the best part: adding a new user and logging into kde4 works just
fine... but an existing user - even with an empty $HOME - doesn't.
!!!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
login to kde

Actual Results:
kded & plasma crash

Expected Results:
successful login

If this crash is reproducible, please add the backtrace. For more information, see http://techbase.kde.org/User:DarioAndres/How_to_provide_more_information_about_crash_reports
Comment 2 hemathor 2011-11-20 06:51:36 UTC
i tried to do that using dr konqi, which is offered. but as soon as i tried to login to kde.org, i got an error message, that complained about kded not running...

at novell (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731570) i just go the tip to delete /var/tmp/kdecache-<user>, and now it kind of works: plasma comes up and looks kind of familiar, although panels and other things have different sizes/positions. but at least, everything seems to be back as it should...
Comment 3 Christoph Feck 2011-11-20 09:02:55 UTC
In Dr. Konqi, you can click on the "Save" icon in backtrace tab. Then paste the backtrace as a comment here.
Comment 4 Will Stephenson 2011-12-08 11:40:47 UTC
Reassign Network Management bugs to new maintainer. Have a lot of fun, Lamarque!
Comment 5 Alex Fiestas 2013-02-26 20:58:28 UTC
Without a backtrace there is no way we can fix this :/

Have you been able to reproduce this? if so, can you attach a backtrace?
Comment 6 Andrew Crouthamel 2018-09-04 16:21:47 UTC
Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years and I will be closing this bug. Please test again with the latest version and file a new bug in plasma-nm. Thank you!
