Description emgrasso 2011-11-18 14:55:16 UTC
Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

with akonadi and nepomuk enabled the entire netbook is unusable because memory, cpu cores and network connection are all overloaded by kmail associated processes and the hard drive thrashes

uninstalling strigi and setting

sudo chmod -x /urs/bin/akonadi_nepomuk_*

returned system to some usability but drive and network are still being thrashed.
GMAIL connection not working usably nor accurately

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Turn on kmail with an IMAP link configured to GMAIL

GMAIL web connection reports 10010 messages in All Mail, 492 Inbox,
KMAIL api reports 26388 All Mail, 600 Inbox, with false indications of unread messages

message lists do not populate in kmail and hard drive (and network connections? browsing gets slow) seem to thrash when I click on a large folder

ZIMBRA web reports 7960 in inbox, both places but message lists and message displays are slow and message read indicators are erratic

Actual Results:
see steps to reproduce for additional info

GMAIL messages are not accessible and counts appear garbled

message lists populate slowly or not at all, kmail spends most of its time displaying "Retrieving folder contents please wait"
Message read indicators are very erratic

Expected Results:
a usable email system

System resource use seems better once kmail was left running over night after the upgrade to Kubuntu 11.10, Zimbra settled down but GMAIL (primary email source) remains unusable

Just fixed timeout handling and other issues; please try again with KDE SC 4.8 once it's released.

Dear reporter, thank you for reporting your issue. It is related to an ancient version of KMail which uses Nepomuk. Does this issue still exist with KMail from KDEPIM 4.14 and Akonadi 1.13? If you can try with most recent versions of these. Thank you, Martin
