Bug 286772

Summary: The editor indents only manually, not automatically

Sentry Crash Report:

Description AlbrechtMehl 2011-11-16 11:23:49 UTC
Version: 2.0.85 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

After restricting the line length of the editor to say 72 characters, the indenting works correctly when done manually: if there is enter after the last
b then c starts indented. BUT when the line jump is done automatically because
the line of the x is too long then the second line of the x does not as expected start indented but at the beginning of the line.

This is annoying and fixing this would be welcome.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just trying a second time to have an indented line.

Actual Results:
Same result

Expected Results:
kile should have intended the second line of the x, see above.

Hi
I'm using Kile 2.1.2 and encounter the same issue. Either I have automatic line wrap enabled, with kile complaining about lines being to long, (exceeding some 1024 characters) and putting me into read-only mode on opening a document, or static line wrap, which compromises the indention, like stated above.

Also, when using vim mode, the linewrap doesn't work correctly, but I guess, that's less important problem.
cheers, hope this will be fixed soon.

David

Dear Bug Submitter,

This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond.

Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!

Hi Andrew, thank you for resoponding.

Yes, this bug is still present in kile 2.9.92 (3-beta) on Plasma 5.13.5, KDE framework 5.49.0 and Qt version: 5.11.2 on a Debian Buster installation as well as an up-to-date Archlinux box which has Plasma 5.14.3, KDE framework 5.51.0 and Qt-version: 5.11.2 installed.
On my work machine which currently still runs Debian Jessie, kile 2.1.3 has the same problem. KDE here is version 4.14.2. Qt4 version should be 4.8.6 but I'm not an admin on that machine.

The description of the bug is still acurate. Indentation doesn't work properly on static line wrap. Let me know if I can provide you with more information.

I dropped using vim-mode quite some time ago, so I don't know if that is still an issue.

Cheers,
David
