Version:           1.7 (using KDE 4.7.3) 
OS:                Linux

Dolphin regularly lags for several seconds while copying (big) files.

Dolphin is freezed for several seconds until the program refreshes its GUI and freezing starts again.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Copy big files.

Actual Results:  
Dolphin lags for several seconds.

Expected Results:  
No lagging.

OS: Kubuntu 11.10 X64

Thanks for the report, but could you please provide the following additional information (I cannot reproduce the issue):
- Is Nepomuk/Strigi enabled?
- Which view-mode are you using?
- Which panels have you enabled (Information Panel?)
- What is "big"? 2 GB files, 1 MB files?
- Please describe exactly how you triggered the copy operation (e.g. by drag & drop or by selecting "cut" and "paste" afterwards?)

No.

Same problem in single and split view.

Places and Information panel.

Actually the file size doesn't matter.
It only matters the duration of the copy process, which is quite short at small files. Too short to recognize the lags of Dolphin.

I always move/copy files by selecting "cut"/"copy" and "paste" them into a directory.

It lags especially when copying files from or onto my SMB share.

Are you sure the UI freezes in any case if *not* SMB is used? I'm quite sure in this case it is SMB related as there are some known issues in this area. If you can reproduce a freeze of the UI for several seconds without SMB please let us know, otherwise I'll forward this report to kio/smb.

The UI freezes slightly without SMB, but quite intensively with SMB.
