Description Torbjörn K. 2011-11-10 07:46:50 UTC
Version:           unspecified (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:                Linux

The place holder for the short version of the day of the week (SHORTWEEKDAY) does not work for the German translation.

The German translation says to use "WOCHENTAGKURZ" for "SHORTWEEKDAY" and "WOCHENTAG" for "WEEKDAY". The latter works, the first doesn't.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Switch to German localised KDE
2. Go to System Settings (dt. "Systemeinstellungen") -> Region & Language (dt. "Region") -> Date & Time (dt. "Datum & Zeit")
3. add "WOCHENTAGKURZ" somewhere (possible useful)

Actual Results:
The day of the week is displayed in the long version and "KURZ" is directly appended:

"WOCHENTAGKURZ, DD.MM.YY" -> "DonnerstagKURZ, 10.11.11"

Expected Results:
The short version of the day of week should be displayed:

"WOCHENTAGKURZ, DD.MM.YY" -> "Do, 10.11.11"

I assume the problem is, that the place holder for the short day starts with the place holder for the full day and thus the parser stops after detecting the place holder for the full day.

As a quick fix I suggest altering the place holder for the short day into something, which starts differently to the other place holders.

A fix for the long run would be to change the parser to detect the longest place holder possible and not stopping after the first match.

Maybe until the initial bug that causes that is fixed, we can change the translation to “KURZERWOCHENTAG” et al?
