Description S. Burmeister 2011-11-06 11:55:39 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

If one neters the wrong password/username for an smtp action one has to restart akonadi + kmail.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Let kmail ask you for the password when sending emails.
Enter wrong password and select "remember password"

Actual Results:
Sending fails yet the user is not asked for the password again.
Re-sending the outbox results in a failure again instead of asking the user for the correct password.

Expected Results:
ask the user if the username/password is invalid – each time.

I confirm it
Comment 2 Yngve Levinsen 2012-07-19 07:15:24 UTC
Can confirm this using version 4.8.3.

Fairly frustrating as well, and it is one of those bugs that makes the software look clumsy. I really love KDE-PIM, which makes me really hate these kind of problems.

$ uname -a
Linux yngve-chakra 3.4.3-1-CHAKRA #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jun 18 17:39:58 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
