- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I was unable to import photos from my camera, because PTP mode is disabled.  Instead I imported from the SD card.  After it ran for quite a while, digikam crashed.  I believe I was done with the import.

This problem have been fixed in current implementation from git/master (next 2.3.0) by Marcel. Look here for details :

Please, checkout digiKam Software Compilation code from git/master:

https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/graphics/digikam/digikam-software-compilation/repository

...compile and install it, and confirm that crash is fixed.

I haven't yet done the recompile, but I can confirm that this bug is fixed in version 2.3.0, which I have installed from a PPA.
