Sorry I lost my crystal ball (tm). How am I supposed to guess what's happening
from this little info ?
* How do you start X the first time (why does it make a difference when you restart it ?)
* Did you try other window environments (to see if it's a KDE or an X bug?)
* ....................
etc. etc.

The window manager in KDE is called kwin now (since 2.0) - I suppose that's the
one you're referring to.

Hmm not really. AH ? Do you mean kdm the login manager ?
I have heard about similar reports (with suse too).

Ok I think this is about kdm.
You need to talk to Oswald Buddenhagen <ob6@inf.tu-dresden.de>
But maybe it's a Suse specific bug... Well he'll be able to tell much
better than me.

Comment 3 Daniel Frickemeier 2001-07-08 14:11:39 UTC
Sorry David

after a few more test I think its an kwm Bug. When I boot my system
kwm starts. Then I have no keyboard. I restart the x-window the the
restart button an everything is fine. When I don't restart the
x-window the keyboard is'nt ready to use in every window enviroment.
reconfigure the x-window doesn't solve the problem. The bug is only
shown when I reboot the system. I don't known I it's a kwm bug or a
x-window. Before I upgrading to kde 2.2 beta 1 this problem does not
exist.

Hope to make the problem a little bit clearer.

Hi David

I found the mistake. It's a wrong entrie in the
$KDEDIR/share/config/kdm/Xservers - file.

the old entry was for Unix-Maschiens. Changed it to linux.

sorry for the trouble.

Daniel

Problem turned out to be a misconfiguration.
