crashes in the nvidia blob but this: #11 0x00007f3a7d16afe4 in KWin::GLShader::setUniform (this=<value optimized out>, location=5, value=<value optimized out>) doesn't rule out a nullpointer access ("this=<value optimized out>") like in bug #283577 since there's a known bug in the cube/slide effects, you should disable those until 4.7.3 (see bug #280455) *** Bug 287843 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** let's assume it's either a driver issue or the cube issue which is already fixed. If it is still reproducable we would need a gdb log directly with a breakpoint at the right location. Not nice to do in case of KWin, I have to admit. *** Bug 297968 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 298965 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Created attachment 71478 [details]

kwin (4.8.3 (4.8.3) "release 501") on KDE Platform 4.8.3 (4.8.3) "release 501" using Qt 4.8.1
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I can experience this crash in KDE 4.8.3 with a bit newer NVIDIA driver, also.

do NOT use that particular driver version - seriously.
not necessarily causes this bug, but do NOT use it anyway. not even if you've a newer GPU. don't.
