Do you know if you have accessibility enabled in Kubuntu? See also bug 284005. Could be an upstream issue in Qt, or in the accessibility bridges. I have Ubuntu 11.10. - What I was doing when the application crashed:
Opened Kile on a recently updated Ubuntu 11.10 in KDE, crashed immediately and every time I tried it.

kile (2.1.0) on KDE Platform 4.7.4 (4.7.4) using Qt 4.7.4
- What I was doing when the application crashed: I was listening to music in Amarok version 2.4.3, reading my mail through Firefox 10.0 and editing LaTeX documents using gedit version 3.2.3.
Since I installed this version of Kile (2.1.0), sometimes Amarok also features crashes.
