FWIW the directory is a symlink to an external NTFS drive :

tfoerste@n22 ~ $ ls -ld Downloads
lrwxrwxrwx 1 tfoerste users 16 Oct 12 21:06 Downloads -> /mnt/E/download/

I have no idea why this is considered a bug or is reported against kio_smb. Moving it to Dolphin so that Frank or one of the Dolphin developers could properly respond or close the bug report.

I don't know either. If the issue is still there in KDE 4.11 or later, please reopen and reassign to kdelibs (which is where the error message comes from). Thanks!
