The folder view widget, when placed on the desktop, adheres to the same functionality that it would normally have when dragged to a panel.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Add widget > drag folder view to desktop

Actual Results:  
There is a massive folder icon placed on the desktop. Upon clicking, it gives a dropdown list of folders.

Expected Results:  
There should be a widget with files inside it, a la the normal functionality of the widget.

This is a fresh install of kubuntu, simply adding the KDE 4.7 repos, upgrading, and rebooting.

Sounds like a downstream issue. Can you try it the non-ppa KDE?

I was not able to reproduce it (KDE 4.7.3)
