Description Tim Eberhardt 2011-10-12 08:01:37 UTC
Version: unspecified
OS: Linux

I recently upgraded KDE to 4.7.2. After that I noticed that my private mail accounts inbox isn't synced anymore (subfolders like spam are synced correctly). It is only my private account not on my work account (private: courier-imap server, work: CommuniGate server). Other clients like thunderbird, my smartphone or KDE 4.7.1 on my work PC work properly.

I tried to delete the account and re-add it with no success. All folder contents are downloaded but not the inbox.

Hierarchy on the two accounts is different.

Private acc:
Server
|-Inbox
   |-Drafts
   |-Sent
   |-Spam
   |-...

Work acc:
Server
|-Drafts
|-Inbox
|-Sent
|-Spam
|-...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Upgrade to 4.7.2 try to sync inbox from courier-imap.

Actual Results:
No sync of inbox folder. Only subfolders are synced.

Expected Results:
Mails in inbox should be downloaded.

Are you sure that your inbox is subscribe in imap ?

yes it is (server side and local)

another thing I noticed: i can copy/move mails in any folder but the inbox. if I drag some mail over it a red symbol is indicating that this isn't possible.

Ok... today I tried to delete all akonadi/kmail/kontact settings and data under .local/share/, .config, .kde4/share/. After that kontact welcomed me with a assistant to setup a new account. After I've set up the account it was initially synced correctly. But now after the first reboot the old behavior is back and the inbox isn't synced anymore.

Now I upgraded my office PC to 4.7.2 and I have exactly the same behavior there! No syncing and no alteration of folder contents possible on inbox.

i have the same problem.
i wanted to try this new kmail (never used it before, thunderbird user), i set up the account, and noticed the same behaviour, inbox is not being synced, and i get a frequent error message in the notification area that says "Select failed, server replied: A000813 NO Mailbox does not exist, or must be subscribed to."
the message appears everytime akonadi tries to sync the mail (every 5 minutes)
the mail server is a personal one, running postfix and courier-imap, with centos 5.6
thunderbird doesnt have any problem accessing the inbox.

strangely enough, if i open konqueror, and type:
imap://my_user_name@my_server/
i get asked for password, and konqueror displays a single directory "inbox", i enter it, and i see the various sub-directories AND the few messages in inbox itself. does konqueror use its own imap subsystem?

thanks in advance for any help

my system:
OS: Kubuntu 11.10, 32-bit, freshly installed few days ago
KDE 4.7.2

remote mail server:
centos 5.6 64-bit
postfix
courier-imap
personal namespace=INBOX.
no shared namespace used

Tried it again today with KDE 4.7.4. I deleted my account, restarted akonadi, set up my account again - no luck. Still no inbox syncing.

This bug might be related or a duplicate of Bug 284172
Comment 9 Frederik Gladhorn 2012-12-15 17:52:42 UTC
As workaround: configure the account and deselect the "Enable server side subscriptions" checkbox in the "advanced" tab.
