Works for me when using kaffeine 1.2.2 in KDE SC 4.8 RC1. Jekyll, is this due to the changes in Kaffeine 1.2.2 or KDE 4.8? That is, does it still work with older versions of Kaffeine while staying on KDE 4.8, or does Kaffeine 1.2.2 on KDE 4.7 fix the issue? Hmm, I just checked it again and I guess this is mostly a problem of missing xine plugins. It works for me when using kaffeine 1.2.2 in Debian Sid(KDE SC 4.6.5), ArchLinux(KDE SC 4.8 RC1) and Gentoo(git version). The problem happens when I try it in Fedora 16(KDE SC 4.7.4). However, after installing xine-lib-extras and xine-lib-extras-free, it works. So just check whether you have installed needed xine plugins. Please don't close bugs you don't understand. I appreciate that adding additional packages solved your issue in *your particular case*, but keep in mind that 2 major distros are currently experiencing problems, and they do not have access to the package you installed. I have just tested against Kaffeine 1.2.2 on KDE 4.8.1 as supplied in openSUSE 12.2 Milestone 3 and the issue persists. It is NOT fixed. I realise I am testing against a distro release still in development, but the problem is also present in openSUSE 11.4 AND 12.1. As far as I can see, this bug has had zero developer attention since it was reported 6 months ago. Could somebody at least check it and change the status from "UNCONFIRMED"? Well, I told you it was a downstream problem that you didn't install needed xine plugins. Whatever, I'm not a developer of kaffeine, so I wouldn't bother changing its status again. This bug is too old, for a version < 1.3. Closing it, as the latest version is 2.0.1, and lots of things changed since version 1.2.x, including the usage of VLC as video display backend, support for DVB-T2 and ISDB-T via libVLC, etc. You may check on the upstream version and see if the bug was solved. The README file contains instructions about how to compile it. You can find it at our git repository: https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kaffeine.git If you find similar issues with version 2.0.1, please re-open. |
